Michael
(Mike) Stauffer was born in Oshawa in 1973 and he began an outstanding
3 year collegiate career at Durham College in 1993.
Prior to graduating in 1996, the remarkable two
sport athlete in Golf and Curling was the recipient
of several OCAA awards, including OCAA Individual
Golf Champion in 1995-96. In all, he won 8
Championship medals in his three years at Durham
College: two gold medals in Golf 1993-94 &
1995-96 and two gold medals in men's Curling as
he skipped the Lords to titles in 1994-95 and 1995-96.
In addition Mike was also a Silver Medal Curling
Team member in 1993-94 and a Bronze Golf Individual
recipient in 1993-94 and a Bronze Golf Team member
in 1994-95. Away from the athletic playing
sites and competitions, Mike served an integral
role as an executive council member of the Durham
College Student Association in 1995-96.
The
same year saw Mike receive the Keith Fletcher memorial
Scholarship Award that was based on leadership and
overall involvement at Durham College. His
college career was capped off in 1994-95 with his
selection as the Durham College "William Avery"
Male Athlete of the Year.
