Julie
Goedhuis was born in Perth, Ontario in 1973 and began
her outstanding collegiate career at Durham in 1993, following
many high school achievements at Smiths Falls District High
School. Julie made an immediate impact on the DC Basketball
Program. As a member of the DC Women's Basketball Team, she
was named OCAA League All-Star three times and was a driving
force behind DC's first ever Division I Women's Basketball
Ontario Championship Gold Medal in 1996-97. Julie was a 2-time
OCAA Scoring Champion 1993-94 & 1994-95; played in two
OCAA All-Star games; named OCAA Championship All-Star in 1996-97;
and scored the OCAA Three Point Shootout title twice in her
collegiate career. Her stellar 3 year collegiate career saw
her named DC Most Valuable Player twice after being named
Rookie of the Year in 1993-94.
She was named CCAA All Canadian in 1993-94 and finished her
collegiate career as the 2nd leading scorer all-time in OCAA
Women's Basketball. Se had her #44 DC basketball uniform officially
retired to the rafters in recognition of her significant achievements
at Durham College. Of special note, in 2000, Julie was named
to the OCAA Women's Basketball All-Millennium Team, recognizing
her as one of the twelve best players in th history of the
Ontario Colleges Athletic Assocation. Julie was also recently
inducted inot the OCAA Hall of Fame.
