Ernie
Rainbow was
born in Belleville in 1958 and he began his career at
Durham in 1981 as the Assistant Athletic Director after
graduating from Durham in 1980 in Sports Administration.
Ernie was a student athlete in basketball at DC but he
was more well known as a highly successful coach at the
Intercollegiate level at Durham including Men's Basketball,
Women's Basketball, Touch Football and Golf. As
an adminstration, Ernie worked for ten years in the Athletic
Department and forged many additional areas of excellence
in athletics. These include bringing
in marketing, promotion, and increased media as well as
helping Durham become one of the tope Colleges in the
CCAA. His overall contribution and professionalism
in many areas is undeniably the deserving reason behind
his induction in to the Hall of Fame at Durham College.
