Ann
Weir (Stowell-Smith) was born in Wallesay, England
in 1966 and after graduating from McLaughlin C.V.I., she began
an exceptional 3 year collegiate career at Durham in 1985.
Prior to graduating from Business Administration in 1988,
she was an all-star member of the DC Women's Volleyball Program
helping to lead her team to the OCAA Championships each year
from 1986 to 1988. In both 1986-87 and 1987-88, she was named
an OCAA League All-Star. As an offensive star, she was a major
part of the 1985-86 volleyball team who captured the school's
first ever Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Division
I Volleyball Championship title. This led to the first ever
trip to the Canadian Colleges Athletic Assocation National
Bronze Medal in British Columbia. The talented local athlete
was also named an OCAA Championship All-Star in 1986-87 as
well as team MVP in each of her last two seasons. She was
named a CCAA All-Canadian in 1987-88 recognizing her as one
of the top players in the country. Behind the scenes she served
two terms on the Student Athletic Assocation and capped off
her College athletic career by being named Female Athlete
of the Year at Durham in 1987-88.
